The ceiling concrete grinder that lasts on site

Ceiling grinder, long-reach grinder, overhead concrete grinder: whatever you call it on site. The Sept Tools ceiling grinder is made in Roanne, designed for raw concrete and built to outlast the job.

Builders search for the brushless ceiling grinder that holds up, the overhead machine that does not give out after three jobs, the tool that captures what it produces. Raw concrete (laitance, formwork steps, aesthetic finishes), paint, plaster, adhesive, resin, bitumen, plasterboard, fibre glass: the Sept Tools ceiling concrete grinder handles all of these surfaces. After asbestos stripping, before carbon fibre plate bonding, in renovation or new build, it works at every stage that requires a clean or prepared ceiling substrate. Designed in Roanne by people who have seen real construction sites, tested on the most hostile surfaces.

Quiet brushless: compatible with operating car parks and occupied buildings.

Traditional method vs Sept Tools

×

Manual pole grinding

  • 2 to 3 m²/h of ceiling prepared
  • Outstretched arms, shoulder pain in 2 h
  • Vibration above 5 m/s²
  • Dust falling on the operator
  • Sessions limited to 90 min in PPE

Sept Tools ceiling chain

  • 7 to 12 m²/h with a single operator
  • Muscular load divided by 5 (RULA)
  • Vibration 0.35 m/s² (14x below threshold)
  • HEPA H13 source capture
  • 4 to 6 h sessions in full PPE possible
Why Sept Tools

French brushless engineering

Ergonomics first

Eland Grinding Arm and Gazelle trolley: the operator no longer carries anything, only guides.

Brushless 1600 W

Constant torque, zero loss under load, x14+ service life with no internal wear parts.

Source extraction

IU33 Longopac H13 captured directly at the pad, zero falling dust on the operator.

Safe overhead working

Eland trolleys up to 3.80 m. Compliant with workers' comp fall prevention guidance.

Our ceiling grinding process

  1. 1

    Access diagnosis

Headroom, access and occupied site or PPE constraint assessment.

  2. 2

    Chain set-up

Fouine XB165 plus Eland Grinding Arm or Gazelle depending on the zone.

  3. 3

    Grinding 7-12 m²/h

Single operator, machine carried by the trolley, source capture.

  4. 4

    IU33 Longopac H13

Continuous sealed bagging, zero falling dust, silica compliance.

  5. 5

Challenges and solutions

Technical challenges and answers

Shoulder RSI overhead

Le problème

Arms overhead: strain assessment mandatory beyond 1 h/day, rotator cuff RSI in 2 h.

Sept Tools

Eland plus Gazelle: muscular load divided by 5, vibration 0.35 m/s² measured at handle.

Pole method too slow

Le problème

Manual method: 2 to 3 m²/h maximum, useful shift limited to 90 min before saturation.

Sept Tools

Fouine 1600 W on trolley: 7 to 12 m²/h, useful shift full day.

Noise in operating car park

Le problème

Angle grinder 90 dB(A) banned in operating car parks, hospitals and occupied offices.

Sept Tools

Brushless 60 dB(A): no time restrictions, permanent cohabitation with users.

Carbon bonding profile

Le problème

CFRP bonding to slab soffit: critical surface profile, sub-millimetre tolerance for structural hold.

Sept Tools

Diamond pad plus variable 500 to 4800 rpm, IP65, CSP profile compliant with EN 1504.

Asbestos containment and capture

Le problème

Asbestos zone at 10 Pa: HEPA H13 source capture mandatory, extended PPE sessions.

Sept Tools

Fouine IP65 plus IU33 Longopac class H: SS3 compliant, continuous hermetic bagging.

Falling dust on operator

Le problème

Ceiling grinding: silica fines fall directly on face and airways.

Sept Tools

HEPA H13 source capture at 65 l/s: exposure divided by 50, OEL 0.1 mg/m³ compliant.

Use cases

For which job sites?

Multi-storey car park renovation

Ceiling grinding across thousands of square metres. Gazelle Premium trolley: single operator processes 7 to 12 m²/h, productivity x4 versus manual pole method.

Office and hospitality ceiling prep

Underside grinding before decorative paint in offices, hotels and reception halls. Fouine XB165 at 8 to 12 m²/h on soft substrates like plaster and degraded coatings.

Asbestos abatement under slab

Extended sessions in full PPE in confined zone: Fouine plus IU33 plus trolley allows 4 to 6 h continuous (versus 90 min unassisted). SS3 and SS4 asbestos sector.

Tunnel and infrastructure before coating

Voussoir concrete and slab undersides on civil works before waterproof or anti-graffiti coatings. Fouine 3.9 kg on Gazelle covers all section profiles, 7 to 10 m²/h.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

Why is ceiling grinding so demanding?

Working with raised arms continuously stresses the rotator cuff, trapezius and neck. Add the cumulative weight of the grinder and the vibration. Without an ergonomic solution, useful shift duration drops below two hours per operator.

What does the Gazelle Premium trolley change?

The trolley fully carries the machine. The operator only handles guidance. A two-hour shift becomes a full pain-free working day. The investment is recovered in just a few projects.

Is the equipment compatible with asbestos work?

Yes. Our grinders operate in asbestos zones with a class H vacuum and standard wetting protocols. The IP65 brushless motor withstands high-pressure cleaning between operations.

How long does a diamond pad last?

On raw concrete, expect 200 to 400 m² depending on grit and substrate hardness. Our pads are calibrated to the range and always in stock in Roanne.

Do you provide training?

Yes. Every system delivery includes free on-site or video training. We also train your operators on first-line maintenance to limit downtime.

Is captive ceiling grinding suitable for asbestos removal? Are there verified field results?

Yes. Our captive grinding system (Fouine XB165 on trolley + IU33 Longopac class H) was put to the test on a live NHS hospital site in the United Kingdom: 1000+ m² of textured asbestos coating removed in 4 productive weeks, with independent UKAS-accredited air monitoring confirming dust levels 5 times below the regulatory threshold (0.02 f/ml measured against 0.1 f/ml limit). Read the full case study.
