Brushless technology, explained simply

No brushes, no sparks, no overheating: the technology that transforms professional tooling and sits at the heart of every Sept Tools machine.

Sept Tools brushless key figures
0
Sound level

Measured across the Sept Tools brushless range, vs 95 dB(A) on brushed tooling.

0.35m/s²
Hand-arm vibration

IP65
Sealing rating

Total protection against dust and projections: compliance for demanding sites.

x10
Motor service life

4,000 to 6,000 brushless hours versus 600 hours on traditional brushed motors.

0
Motor power

Constant brushless torque across the full speed range, no stalling.

500-4800rpm
Variable speed

Electronic variation at constant torque: stripping to polishing on a single machine.

Brushless vs brushed

Traditional brushed motor vs Sept Tools brushless

×

Traditional brushed motor

  • Sound level 95 to 105 dB(A): pain threshold
  • Vibration 8 to 12 m/s²: exposure capped at 1 hour per day
  • Service life 200 to 600 hours before replacement
  • Permanent sparks: forbidden in ATEX and nuclear
  • Overheating under load: frequent safety shutdowns
  • Torque collapses at low speed

Sept Tools brushless

  • 60 dB(A) measured: acoustic comfort on occupied sites
  • 0.35 m/s² measured: a full day without risk
  • 4,000 to 6,000 hours without intervention
  • Zero sparks: ATEX, ESD and nuclear compliant
  • Smart cooling, constant torque under load
  • Constant torque 500-4800 rpm, variation < 5%
What brushless changes

Six problems brushless solves for good

Unbearable noise on site

Le problème

Brushed tooling: 95 to 105 dB(A), pain threshold, neighbours and occupied sites become impossible.

Sept Tools

60 dB(A) with Sept Tools: acoustic comfort, sensitive sites and inhabited buildings stay accessible.

Vibration that destroys operators

Le problème

Brushed hammer drills and sanders: 8 to 12 m/s², HSE and EU 2002/44/EC limit exposure to 1 hour per day.

Sept Tools

0.35 m/s² measured brushless: a full working day without exceeding the regulatory ELV.

Machines that die in 6 months

Le problème

Brushes worn out in 200 to 600 hours, costly replacement, machines scrapped prematurely.

Sept Tools

4,000 to 6,000 hours without intervention: x10 service life, measured failure rate < 0.8% over 5 years.

Overheating and unwanted shutdowns

Le problème

Brushed motors that heat up under load: power loss, safety shutdowns, downgraded productivity.

Sept Tools

Smart brushless cooling: constant torque under load, no overheating and no cut-out.

Dangerous sparks

Le problème

Brushes that constantly spark: forbidden in ATEX, ESD and controlled nuclear zones.

Sept Tools

Spark-free brushless: compliant with sensitive industrial and nuclear environments.

Unstable torque at low speed

Le problème

On brushed motors, dropping to 500 rpm divides torque by 3: the machine stalls as soon as you apply pressure.

Sept Tools

Constant brushless torque from 500 to 4800 rpm: variation < 5% under identical load.

How it works

The brushless motor in 5 steps

No brushes, no carbons, no mechanical friction. Everything is driven by dedicated power electronics.

  1. 1

    Permanent magnets

The rotor carries very high energy neodymium magnets, with no brushes and no carbons.

  2. 2

    Position sensors

Three Hall sensors read the rotor position in real time, 60,000 times per minute.

  3. 3

    Electronic controller

The controller calculates the energising sequence of the stator windings based on the position read.

  4. 4

    Constant torque under load

When resistance increases, the controller raises the current to preserve nominal torque.

  5. 5

    Zero friction, zero wear

No mechanical contact between rotor and stator: 4,000 to 6,000 hours of service life.

Why brushless changes construction

Six decisive advantages for the pros

Constant torque 500-4800 rpm

Measured variation < 5% under identical load. Stripping and polishing on the same machine.

No sparks

Compliant with non-explosive ATEX zones, ESD and controlled nuclear environments.

Industrial service life

4,000 to 6,000 hours without intervention. Failure rate < 0.8% over 5 years of intensive use.

IP65 for demanding sites

Total dust and water sealing: high pressure cleaning accepted.

Native anti-strain design

Vibration 0.35 m/s², 60 dB(A), controlled weight: engineered to reduce MSDs.

Made in Roanne

Designed, assembled and tested in France. National aftersales, spare parts in stock.
