Presented at the AMI AGM 2026
Findlay Harris of SMH Products Ltd presented "Innovative Grinding Solutions", featuring Sept Tools equipment, at the AMI AGM in April 2026. The presentation set out how brushless captive grinding addresses the recurring constraints of textured coating removal: manual handling, working at height, operator fatigue, vibration exposure, and dust.
Following the presentation, the equipment was also referenced in the magazine of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA), the trade body for the British asbestos removal sector.

Built for British textured coating and asbestos removal
The single-phase brushless motor enables quiet, low-vibration work across walls, floors and ceilings: reduced noise, reduced vibration, reduced effort, reduced dust. Paired with a class H vacuum, the grinder captures fibres at the point of contact rather than dispersing them. Headline figures are consistent across the range: 1600 W brushless power, 60 dB at the operator position, 0.35 m/s² hand-arm vibration, and IP65 sealing. The captive grinding method has been validated on a British hospital site by independent UKAS-accredited air monitoring.
On a UK site the grinders run on 110 V and require the continuous 5 kVA transformer supplied with the equipment (4.5 to 5 kVA continuous). Standard 5 kVA transformers deliver only around 3 kVA continuous and are not sufficient.
