Gazelle cart or Eland cart: which carrier to sand a concrete ceiling?

The Gazelle and the Eland are two Sept Tools carts with a telescopic mast, carrying the same sanding arms and the same Fouine XB165. The Gazelle is dedicated to sanding and carries the extractor on board. The Eland accepts a higher load and also serves for ceiling drilling, board fitting and wall work.

Gazelle or Eland: what differs at a glance?

Both carts are made by Sept Tools and take the same Fouine XB165 sander. This comparison is not looking for a winner: it lays out the facts, side by side, so the choice is made on your site.

Data from Sept Tools product manuals. The mounted sander is identical on both carts: Fouine XB165, 7.6 kg head, 165 mm diamond pad.

What is the same on both carts?

Almost everything to do with sanding. Both carts mount the machine on a telescopic rack mast, take the same sanding arms and the same Fouine XB165, and fold down to the same footprint for transport. In both cases, the cart holds the machine against the ceiling, not the operator's shoulders.

What ceiling height can you reach?

Height depends on the arm fitted, not on the cart. The four sanding arms in the range cover a working height from 2.2 to 3.3 m depending on the model, on the Gazelle as on the Eland. So you choose the arm from the ceiling height on site, then the cart from the rest of the work.

A cart dedicated to sanding or a versatile cart?

This is the real difference. The Gazelle is built for wall and ceiling sanding: it is the lighter of the two and it takes the extractor along with it, so there is only one unit to move around the site. The Eland is an all-purpose cart: the same frame takes the sanding arm, a ceiling drilling module, a board lifter or a balancer bracket. If your team drills, fits boards or works on walls with a suspended machine, one cart does it all.

What weight to handle, what load to carry?

The Gazelle weighs 32 kg and accepts 122 kg for the complete assembly (cart, mast, arm and machine). The Eland weighs 36 kg and accepts 135 kg. For sanding with the Fouine XB165, both have plenty of margin. The difference matters for the Eland's heavier modules.

Is the class H extractor included in each set?

Not in the same way. The Gazelle ceiling sanding set (ENS103554) includes the class H IU33 Longopac extractor: cart, sander and extraction delivered together. The Eland ceiling sanding set (ENS103152) includes the cart, the sanding arm and the Fouine XB165: the class H extractor is chosen and added to suit the site.

In all honesty

Why Sept Tools offers two carts for the same sander

Both carts solve the same problem, sanding a ceiling without holding the machine overhead by hand, with the same Fouine XB165. Neither is "better" in the absolute: it all depends on what else your team does besides sanding.

  • +The Gazelle cart is the choice for pure sanding: lighter, extractor on board, set delivered complete with the IU33 Longopac.
  • +The Eland cart is the choice for a team with several trades: sanding, ceiling drilling, board fitting and wall work on the same frame.
  • +In both cases, the operator never carries the weight of the machine: the cart absorbs the effort, not the shoulders.
Frequently asked questions

What customers ask before choosing

Is the Eland an arm or a cart?

A cart. The Eland, like the Gazelle, is a carrier cart with a telescopic rack mast. The sanding arm is a module that fits at the top of the mast, and the same arms fit both carts.

Do the Gazelle cart and the Eland cart use the same sander?

Yes. Both take the same Fouine XB165: a 7.6 kg brushless head, a 165 mm diamond pad, variable speed from 500 to 4800 rpm, IP65 sealing and a motor-only lifespan of 20,000 hours. What changes is the cart that carries it.

What ceiling height can you reach?

Height depends on the arm, not the cart. The four sanding arms in the range cover a working height from 2.2 to 3.3 m depending on the model, and they fit either the Gazelle or the Eland.

Which cart should I choose if I only sand?

The Gazelle. It is dedicated to wall and ceiling sanding, it is the lighter of the two (32 kg) and it carries the extractor on board. Its ceiling sanding set (ENS103554) comes complete with the class H IU33 Longopac extractor.

Which cart should I choose if I also drill or fit boards?

The Eland. The same cart takes the sanding arm, a ceiling drilling module, a board lifter or a balancer bracket for wall work. It also accepts the higher load: 135 kg for the complete assembly.

Does the Eland set include the extractor?

No. The Eland ceiling sanding set (ENS103152) includes the cart, the sanding arm and the Fouine XB165. The class H extractor is chosen separately. The Gazelle set (ENS103554) includes the IU33 Longopac.
