Diamond plates

Diamond plate for bituminous materials

PCD and wide segments to shear bitumen, asphalt and road residues without clogging.

Request a quote

Bituminous asphalts, thermoplastic road marking layers and bitumen-based dust coatings are among the hardest materials to grind. Their thermoplastic nature immediately clogs standard diamond plates, which load and lose their cutting capacity. The Sept Tools diamond plate for bituminous materials uses PCD or diamond segments with very wide spacing that shear the coating instead of abrading it. This is the dedicated tool for civil engineering companies, road marking specialists and surface preparation experts working in urban or industrial environments. Sept Tools covers the three trade needs of bituminous work: grinding and stripping with the MBI-PKD4 plate fitted on Petit Potam, Tapir, Fouine XB165 or Gazellomur; planing with PCD drum on Rabot Castor, Petit Rabot or Gazellomur Rabot; grooving for road marking lines or trenches with the Desman or Taupe groovers equipped with an asphalt diamond disc. This page covers the first approach, see also the planing and grooving ranges in the catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

What machine power is needed?

A minimum of 1500 W to stay productive on asphalt. The 1600 W Sept Tools brushless grinders are optimised for this demanding use.

How many m² per plate?

Highly variable by bitumen thickness. On thermoplastic marking, expect 200 to 500 m². On thin asphalt, more like 100 to 300 m².

Compatible with extraction?

Yes, and even recommended in urban environments. Class M extraction is sufficient for bitumen (particles are coarser than for plaster).

And for very thick bitumen?

Beyond 5 mm thickness, plan several successive passes or move to a more aggressive PCD drum (diamond drums range).
